Christmas Holidays: The school will close for Christmas Holidays at 12noon on Friday December 20th and re-open on Monday January 6th 2014.
Carol Singing: We will have our usual Carol Singing on Friday morning (20th) at 11.15am (weather permitting). You are all welcome to come along and join us.
Christmas Plays: Many classes are very busy at the moment preparing their Christmas Plays and will put on performances for parents at the following times.

Congratulations to all the boys in Rang 2 and Rang 6 who recently had their enrolment ceremonies for First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Thanks to teachers Mr.Raftery and Ms.Mulvey (2nd) and Mr. McDonald and Ms. McManus (6th) for their work preparing the boys.
School Stars: Congratulations to all the boys from the school who took part in the School Stars Competition. A special word of congratulations to Matthew Sharkey (6th) who reached the final and to Calum Agnew (5th) who came second in the final.
Hallelujah Choir: The School Choir recently took part in the Hallelujah Concert in City West and it proved to be a very happy experience for all. A big thank you to Mr.Raftery, Ms. Ward and Ms. Callaghan for all their work.

Cross Country Running: A team from the school recently took part in the Cumann na mBunscol Cross Country Competition in Bellewstown and performed very well. Well done to all involved and thanks to teachers Ms.Ward and Ms.Mulvey.
Milk: For those who want to get milk in school for the period January – April the price is €13.50 and the money should be sent in the week we return from holidays.

Junior Infants 2014: If you have a boy or know of a boy due to start in our school in September 2014 and if you have not filled out an application form please contact the school immediately. It is a big help to us to know well in advance what the incoming numbers will be.
School Building: The tendering process for the new building is now complete and we have been informed that the building of the new school should commence early in 2014.
Newgrange; Boys from Mr.Raftery’s class will visit Newgrange on Monday December 16th and boys from Ms.Callagahan’s class will visit on Wednesday 18th. We hope the boys will enjoy these outings and we ask parents to remind your son about the importance of good manners/safety etc.
Art/Monument in Duleek: The boys in Ms.McManus’ Class have been working with artist Maurice Harron as part of a Meath County Council project to design a sculpture for Duleek Village. The boys greatly enjoyed their involvement and we now look forward to the finished structure which will be erected in the village.
School Football: The school Gaelic Football Team were defeated by Trim in a play-off for a place in the Division 1 semi-final of the Cumann na mBunscol League. Ratoath were the eventual winners of the competition. The good weather has meant that the school leagues are progressing very well and are being enjoyed by boys in 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th classes. Thanks to teachers Mr.McDonald (4th) and Mr. McDonald (6th) for their work in this area.

Credit Union Poster Competition: Congratulations to Luke Russell (5th) Brogan McGahey Mathot (4th) Aaron Reilly (6th) and Sean O Brien (5th) who won prizes in the Credit Union Competition.

Energy Awareness: The Energy Committee in the school are very busy at the moment and they are keeping a very close eye on everybody – making sure we turn off lights, close doors, close blinds when school ends etc. This work is being done in conjunction with the Green Schools Committee and we are working towards renewing our Green Flag. Thanks to Ms.McManus, Mrs.Levins, Ms.Kelleher and Ms. Fagan for their help in this area.
Rainsbows: Rainbows have now completed their first six sessions and will resume in the New Year. Thanks to Ms.Leppla and Ms.McManus who work with this group.

Peter Pan Pantomime January 2014

On Wednesday 22nd January 2014 the Drogheda Pantomime Society performance of Peter Pan will be in aid of Duleek Boys’ & Girls’ National School. The show starts at 7.30. Ticket prices are as follows:

Family (2 Adults & 2 Children) €45 (€25 going to schools and €20 to society)

Adults €15 (€10 going to schools and €5 to society)

Child €10 (€5 going to schools and €5 to society)

Tickets are on sale through the Boys’ School and from the following Parents Council Representatives:

If people purchase their tickets at the door on the night the schools do not receive anything from the sale of these tickets so if attending we urge you to get your tickets from any of the above.

Reminders:
a. We appeal to people not to park in the area between our school gate and the road. Parking here causes a lot of disruption.
b. If your son(s) walk /cycle to school please remind them regularly about road safety etc.
c. Money for Book Rental/Arts/Craft/Photocopying/Activities etc. should be paid by now please. If not please send in to the office next week. Thank you.
