Last week, we were very excited to welcome artist Maurice Harron to our 6th class. Maurice is an artist from Donegal and he came to our class to enlist our help with his current project. Meath Co. Co. have asked him to design and create a structure for the village of Duleek, and as part of this he wanted the input of the local people and school children. All the teacher’s names were put into a hat and our class were chosen as the lucky winners!
Maurice came into our class on Thursday, 7th Nov and Tuesday, 12th Nov. He unveiled his plans for his structure and explained to us what our role in the project would be….we would all write a phrase of our choice inside the outline of any shape we liked. These would then be transferred onto stainless steel to create a section of a tree structure, which will be erected on the main street! The structure, and our phrases, will hopefully be there for many generations to come!
