Continuing with the theme of colour, we decided this week to investigate ways of using both primary and secondary colours. We began by researching artists who made exceptional use of colour and the particular style that they used. A style we found very interesting was Cubism. Cubism was the first abstract artstyle used by several artists including Pablo Picasso and Piet Mondarian. Cubism is full of geometric angles and shapes, vibrant colours and the use of contrasting opposites black and white. To complete our artwork we started by drawing various overlapping shapes on a page. We then painted these lines in black and coloured the shapes in using our primary and secondary colours. We left a few white spaces to make the other colours stand out. The pictures were then mounted on black paper and hung up outside our room. Feel free to come up for a viewing!!
