The school are currently working towards our Active Flag.
The Active School Flag was launched by the Department of Education in 2009.
It is a non-competitive initiative which seeks to recognise schools that provide quality PE, co-curricular physical activity, sports in schools and the communities in which they are based.
This initiative aims to empower schools at both primary and post primary levels to commit to a process of internal self evaluation as part of a whole school process aimed at improving provision of physical activity in their school.
Mrs Keane and Mr McDonald are the Active School Co-ordinators .
Active Flag Committee
Our Active Flag Committee are made up of boys from Each class. Our Active Flag Committee has worked tirelessly this year to promote PE in our school. They helped in the running of our Drop Everything and Move 30 Day Challenge and our Mile a day for 30 Days Challenge. The boys planned the route of our new Active Walkway which was launched during our Active Fortnight. They also liaised with their class teachers during the Active Fortnight to provide important updates.
Active Fortnight
We ran a very successful Active Fortnight. During our Active Fortnight the boys had the opportunity to learn Soccer and Handball skills from local coaches. The Boys learned Irish Dancing and Hip Hop from Ms Murphy, Niamh and Ms Flood. The boys also had the opportunity to do orienteering on the school grounds and to use our newly published school maps. Our Active Walkway was also launched and the children completed various challenges along the route.

Our Playground Leaders from 3rd to 6th class have provided the opportunity for the younger children in the school to use a variety of equipment during their breaktime.
